The Barrister's Book Chamber is a book shop and tea room

February 18th will see The Barrister’s Book Chamber host a Harry Potter themed night that will be a must for all Potter enthusiasts in Retford.

For one night only, the Chamber will close its doors for an evening packed full of storytelling and magical fun, with guest host Hagrid welcoming everyone to Diagon Alley.

The event will also be serving Butter Beer as well as other Harry Potter themed treats and everyone is encouraged to come dressed up as their favourite Witch or Wizard, with prizes for the best dressed.

The idea first began after the shop was likened to a setting from Hogwarts by its customers. Angela, who owns the Barrister’s Book Chamber, said that she wanted to do “something where there’s an opportunity to enter a different world,” and the idea developed from there.

The Barrister’s Book Chamber began life as a book shop, born out of Angela’s love of books, however the tea room was added as customers began to relax in and embrace the enchanting atmosphere of the Chamber.

The Chamber has been compared with the wizarding world by its muggle customers!

When asked about her vision for the Barrister’s Book Chamber, Angela said, “I wanted to create a place for people to come and relax and enjoy the books.” When asked about the future, including further Harry Potter nights and other themed evenings Angela added, “there will be writing workshops, poetry clubs, reading clubs and other themed events throughout the year.”

Laura, who manages the shop, was keen to point out that the book shop and tea room has a very community driven focus. She said, “we like to help out and be part of the community, which is why we welcome and stock local authors books.”

Tickets for the Harry Potter night are on sale now at the Barrister’s Book Chamber at 35 Chuchgate, Retford. You can visit the Facebook event page by clicking here
